Memorial services for Arnold (Sonny) Lyerly, 83, professor, will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Lacy Funeral Home.

Sonny was born in Durham, North Carolina, on July 22, 1934, to Arnold Alexander and Pollyanna (Christian) Lyerly. He married Annie Lesaux on June 21, 1990, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He was a retired master sergeant for the Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Lyerly of Stephenville, Texas; four children, Ronnie Lyerly and wife, Jasmin, of Seattle, Washington, Ricky Lyerly and wife, Kyong, of Asheboro, North Carolina, Matthew Maruca of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Mailyn Baskett and husband, David, of Stephenville, Texas; nine grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley Archer of Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
