I’m sorry to have just learned the passing of Donnie My dad Dan Owen and Uncle Tyler Owen played many many fastpitch games with Donnie and I’ve watched a lot of them. I remember visiting them when we were passing thru a Stephenville years ago. I’ve saw the best fastpitch pitchers that ever played the game and Donnie Campbell would be on that list.

So sorry for your loss. Praying for peace and comfort for you and your family during these tough times. I know he is in a better place but it doesn't make it any easier to deal with at this time. May God be with with you in the days and weeks to come.

What a difference Donnie made in my life. He encouraged, promoted, and helped me be the athlete I wanted to be. We had a love in common-basketball. My heart ached when I learned of his passing and all my heartfelt love goes to his family.

My condolences to Joy and the family . Coach Campbell was an inspiration to his players, friends, and community. I played for him from (1962-66). Not only did he give me a chance for a college education he taught me how to compete on the court and off the court. Coach gave me a set of his old golf clubs my senior year lessons included. I will forever be grateful it is the only game I can still play. The Tarleton family lost an icon.

Joy & family,
I am so sorry for the loss of your husband and father. He was one of a kind and I have many great memories of working for him as his secretary at Tarleton. I will share one thing that I hope will give you a laugh. Being a new secretary in the Athletic Dept (about 29 years old) Donnie was planning the UIL Regional Basketball Tournament and came into my office with a piece of paper and drawing out all these "brackets" as fast as he could. When there was a pause... I so remember saying "what's a bracket"? I will never forget the look on his face. But he was very kind ...sure gritting his teeth. There will never be another Donnie Campbell. May you find peace and comfort in the wonderful memories.

Sharing in your sadness as you remember Donnie. Thinking of you all as you celebrate Donnie's remarkable life. For Donnie has touched so many lives through his career and in his recreational involvement.
Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories of Mr. Donnie R. Campbell to forever hold in your hearts.
