Memorial Services for Douglas Louis Martin, 83, an automotive mechanic, will be held at Harvey Baptist Church, Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Anthony Svajda officiating.

Doug was born in Waco, Texas, on December 17, 1934, to Franklin and Alice (Marr) Martin. He married his wife Barbara Young, in 1974. She preceded him in death in May 2004.

Doug was a devoted member of Harvey Baptist Church even in the last months of his life, he loved his Lord and was determined to serve him fully. Doug was honored by being named an honorary member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity in 2002, as well as being a supporter of the American Heart Association and Relay for Life for many years. In October of 2008, he was nominated and chosen as a “Super Citizen” from the Stephenville Empire-Tribune; which recognized his service and dedication to others. He worked for Weems Texaco for many years and loved working with the community on a personal level daily.

Survivors include his children, Rena and husband, Joe Kohr, of Stephenville, Janice and husband, Ted Schuler, of Granbury, Cynthia and husband, Michael McFarland, of Lake Worth, Ray and wife, Becky Martin, of Porter, and Pat Martin of Lake Worth, step children, Sherrie Cozby of  Stephenville, Roy A. Parham also of Stephenville, Bill Parham of Weatherford, and the grandchildren whom he raised with his late wife Barbara, Dr. Johnny Robinson of Fort Worth, and Amber Carpenter of Granbury, 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara Young Martin, brother, Robert Earl Martin, sisters, Georgie Martin, Frankie Love, and Alice Beverly, son, Doug Martin, Jr., and grandson, Travis Martin.
