Services for Elzie Chandler Howard, 77, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Elk Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Daniel McCabe and Pastor Curt Plaxco officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Lacy Funeral Home.

Elzie was born in Hamilton County on February 1, 1940 to Elzie Chandler Howard, Sr. and Leila Mae (Harvey) Howard.  He married Edythe Petersen on October 28, 1963, in Milwaukee, WI.

He was a member of the Elk Ridge Baptist Church and a Navy Veteran, having served during the Vietnam Conflict and the Cuba Crisis.

Survivors include his wife, Edythe Howard of Stephenville, TX; two children, David Howard and wife, Kristy, and Deborah Howard Salame and husband Daniel of Stephenville, TX; three grandchildren, Aaron Howard Salame, Daniel Howard Salame, and Abigayle Howard Salame; two brothers, Lewis Howard and Glen Howard, and his beloved cat, Meow.
