Stephenville - Services for Frank Hamilton Derrick, Jr., 88, will be held at 10 am, Saturday, April 15th, 2017, at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Stephenville with Deacon Joe Standridge officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at West End Cemetery. A rosary will be held at 7 pm, Friday, April 14th, 2017, at Lacy Funeral Home with a visitation to follow.

Frank, also known as F.H., was born in Alexander, Texas, on June 24, 1928, to Mattie Thursa (Jordan) and Frank Hamilton Derrick, Sr. He had wonderful memories of growing up as one of seven children, which is where he developed his keen sense of humor. He was constantly looking for creative ways to draw people into those truly laughable moments.

One area that was closest to Frank’s heart was his 58-year-marriage to Margaret (Pernell). Their love story was set into motion after an on-the-job injury, and Margaret was the X-Ray Technician on duty. It was love at first sight, and the two were married on September 6, 1958, in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

During his time in the Land of Enchantment, his career focused on jukeboxes, and he was part-owner of one of the largest Wurlitzer dealerships in the state. Frank could sit for hours listening to his 45-records, and he loved sharing tidbits of knowledge about his favorite songs.

His next career move was dairy-farming in Stephenville. His Holstein herds’ were part of the family, and he once again focused on doing the best job possible. Santo Propane was his final career choice, and he  thrived on serving the community.

Family was everything to Frank. He had nicknames for many of his loved ones, and the “Frank Stories” will forever be shared. He also served in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict as an airman third class.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Derrick of Stephenville; children, Colleen Horning and husband, Rob of Waxahachie, Matthew Derrick of Austin, and Laurie Gaiser and husband, Jeff of Stephenville; grandchildren, Sterling Horning and Matthew Derrick, II; his sister Elizabeth Derrick of Stephenville; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
