I have thought of Maxine so many times over the past half century but had lost track and didn’t persist in searching. This morning she was on my mind again and I found this. First let me offer my sincere condolences to her children, other family and friends.
I met Maxine when I spent a student internship at MD Anderson in 1967. I was young, green and eager, but overwhelmed at first by the magnitude of physical problems presented by patients much more complex than those I’d seen in school. During the four weeks I spent there, she guided and encouraged me and taught me until I knew that I could do the work and I loved it. After graduation I went to work there and she continued to mentor and mother me. I was heartbroken when she decided to move to Stephenville. We kept up for a while but gradually lost touch.
When I think of the many things for which I’m grateful, I have to include Maxine. The older I get, the more I realize how much impact she really had on me. I wish I had tracked her down to tell her before she died. Her memory is a blessing to me and I’m sure that it is a blessing to all who loved her.

We are so sorry for your loss. Please accept our deepest sympathies and a Scripture for comfort. "...the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs (graves) will hear his voice and come out" (John 5:28, 29). May you have faith in God who, through his son Jesus Christ, promises the above. With deep respect may you have peace.

Maxine was truly an angel and she made such a huge improvement in many lives. I could never have thanked her enough for what she did for my mother after mom lost the use of her right arm after cancer surgery many years ago. Without Maxine, mother's arm would have remained utterly useless. God bless Maxine and the wonderful family and friends she left behind.
