Dr. Lee Harrison Obituary

Dr. Lee Bondurant Harrison, 78, passed away Sunday morning, April 21, 2024 at his home in Stephenville. He was born on September 28, 1945 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Dr. William Groce Harrison, Jr. and Mabel Hopson Harrison. Dr. Lee, as he was known, graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1963, then entered Midwestern State University where he earned a bachelor of science degree and met his future wife, Carole Lynn Cook.

Following their graduation from college, they married on July 11, 1967 in Wichita Falls. They moved to Houston in August of that year where he entered Baylor College of Medicine, earning a master’s degree in microbiology. Following that, he entered the University of Texas Dental Branch and graduated in 1974. While living in Houston three sons were born. Dr. Lee was always interested in continuing education and earned his fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1984. He had dental practices in Houston and Vernon, Texas, then served two years as a dentist in Indian Health Services at Browning, Montana. He and Carole moved to Stephenville in 2010 to be near family, and he was associated with the dental practice of his son and daughter-in-law. He was a practicing dentist for 49 years.

In his much-earlier years and prior to becoming a dentist, he was a professional drummer and worked with several bands and was also a studio drummer. So he has always had a passion for music. Dr. Lee has enjoyed working on things in his hobby room and always had a project on-going and plans for future projectsmany times involving one of the sons. He loved family get- togethers and treasured his sons and their families. Always positive and never a complainer, he was an encourager to everyone. He will be missed for a long time. Dr. Lee was a member of First Baptist Church of Stephenville.

Survivors include his wife, Carole; sons Bond (and wife Valerie) and Rob (and wife Crista), both of Stephenville, and Oliver (and wife Holly) of Burleson, Texas; four granddaughters Natalie Harrison of Wichita Falls; Mabel Harrison of Stephenville, and Lilly and Lilah Harrison of Burleson; and six grandsons Liam, Wyatt, Rhett, Henry, Sam and Jack, all of Stephenville; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his faithful companion, a standard poodle, Boaz.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Rhoda Kathryn Johnson in 1973; a sister, Mabel Luxenberg in 2015; a brother William Groce Harrison, III in 2018; a nephew, William Groce Harrison, IV in 2012; and a niece Kathy Allen Raney in 2024.

A private family burial service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery with Rev. Russell White officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lacy Funeral Home.
