Harold Gene Smith Sr.

Funeral services for Harold Gene Smith Sr., 79, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Harvey Baptist Church with Pastor Anthony Svajda officiating. Burial will follow at Erath Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at Lacy Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Lacy Funeral Home.

Harold was born in Aurora, Illinois on July 16, 1938 to Charles W. Smith Sr. and Blanche (Cofer) Smith.  He married Doris Nell (Lancaster) Smith on November 4, 1984, in Mineral Wells, Texas. She preceded him in death on June 12, 2011.

Harold was an active member of the Harvey Baptist Church, and served in the United States Army until he retired.

Survivors include his children, Becky Holman and husband, Rick of Arlington, TX, Cindy Smith of Arlington, TX, Kim McKee and husband, Billy of Norman, OK, Harold Gene “Sonny” Smith Jr. of Stephenville, TX, Nicky Smith and Tina Sparks of Stephenville, TX, Connie Buntrock of Sherman, TX, Lindy Hanson and husband, Andy of Durant, Oklahoma, Joani Hughes of Temple, TX, Rebecca Parker and husband, Clint of Waco, TX, Melanie Blake and husband, Paul of Bloomfield, New Mexico, and Steve Beal and wife, Sally of Eureka, Montana; brother, Chuck Smith of Yorkville, Illinois; twenty-eight grandchildren, Rikki, Ryan, Angel, Brandon, Stormy, Jordan, Doc, Samantha, Scott, Tara, Rhett, Tayler, Presley, Matthew, Joshua, Kristel, Timothy, Marissa, Micah, Allison, Isaiah, Steven, Christopher, Meagan, Aaron, Mandi, Misty and Jamie; and many great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Murial Smith, Jim Smith, and Art Smith.
