John William Sobkowiak

February 4, 1961 ~ August 15, 2018 (age 57)

Services for John William Sobkowiak, will be held on December 15, 2018 at 12 Noon at the Hico Baptist Retreat Center in Hico, Texas with Josh Morrison officiating. 

Born on Saturday, February 4, 1961 at Tachikawa AFB, Tachikawa-Shi, Japan to William (Bill) Eugene Sobkowiak and Johnnie Vernon (Geeslin) Sobkowiak

1961 - Moved to Andrew AFB, in Washington DC; where Bill was an aircraft mechanic on Air Force One for President John F. Kennedy

Jun 1970 – The family was transferred to North Highlands, CA

July 1985 – John received his GED in Makakilo, (Oahu) Hawaii

Nov 1986 – John enlisted in the US Army in Des Moines, Iowa

Stationed at Dulmen Depot, in Dulmen, Germany near Munich

During the time he was in the Army he received:

            Army Service Ribbon,

Army Achievement Medal,

Overseas Service Ribbon,

            Expert Marksmanship Badge Rifle: M-16,         

Expert Marksmanship Badge Grenade

Nov 1989 – Honorable Discharged from the Army in Fort Dix, New Jersey

1990 – Moved to Hico, TX

2012 -   Moved to Sacramento, CA

John Passed away on September 15, 2018 at the age of 57 in Sacramento, CA

Leaves behind his Sisters and their Families:

 

            Connie Jo Stepnitz, and her husband, Walter Stepnitz

                        Their two children and their families

                                    Erik Jason Stepnitz and his wife, Lauren Stepnitz and their two children, Oliver and Madeline Jane Stepnitz

                                    Catherine Janelle Cherland and her husband, Carson Cherland and their daughter, Charlotte Jo Cherland

 

            Donnie Jean King and her husband, Bruce David King

                        Their two children and their families

                                    Jennifer Ann King

                                    Samantha Nicole (King) Williams and her husband,

                                                 Anthony John Williams

 

John loved to cook, play the drums, piano and organ, write music and poems, and draw. 

John was a friendly, fun loving, helpful person who was always Smiling.

John is going to be missed tremendously by his friends and family.
