Kirk was born In Merriman, Nebraska, on January 23, 1939 to Harry and Viola Phillips. He was the youngest of two boys. He passed away quietly, November 7th, 2019, at the Dublin Nursing Center at the age of 80.
He was born in the winter, premature at the farm and his grandma used to put him in a box in the oven (of course turned off) just to keep the cold off of him. He later slept in the dresser drawers.
He used to carry a pocketknife in each front pocket incase his horse went down from dragging cows, he could cut the rope.
He worked on several ranches throughout Nebraska. After leaving the service, he started his own heating and air business. Kirk was Baptist by faith and enjoyed team roping. Kirk was quite a prankster and enjoyed practical jokes, especially with rattle snakes, with his father and brother.
Kirk is survived by nephew Mark Phillips (Dixie), Loveland, Colorado, niece, Rhonda (Bill) Meirath, sister-in-law Ceile Phillips, Coloarado, a son, Mick Pollard (Becky), Stephenville, Texas, daughters, Ralena McCurdy (Mike), Eudora, Kansas, Annette Moore (Rick Toney) Saskatchewan, Canada, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is proceeded in death by his beloved partner Tomosa Martin, Dublin, Texas, his parents Harry and Viola Phillips, Nebraska, his brother Ron Phillips, Colorado, sister Cheryl Phillips, nephew Josh Harmon, daughter, Amy Sue “Susie” Gray, Kansas, son, Ricky Pollard, Kansas, and sister-in-law Kay Harden, Indiana.
A memorial Service for Kirk was held November 16th, 2019 at the Lacy Funeral Home Chapel, Stephenville, Texas. A joint Celebration of Life, with Tomosa Martin, was held June 25th, 2021, at Wolf Creek Pass Summitt, Pagosa Springs, Colorado. After a brief ceremony, Their ashes along with Lily their beloved dog, and their kitties Petey and Louie, were released by family members.
