Arlene Sturman Obituary

Arlene Sturman, 87, homemaker, died Saturday, February 12, 2022. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Arlene was born in Lufkin, Texas, on August 25, 1934, to Arthur M. and Lomie Ruth (Smith) Tallant. She married Jerry Gene Sturman on June 27, 1952, in Denver City, Texas.

Arlene was a member of the 1st Methodist Church in Acton, Texas. She was a long-time member of Eastern Star, and she volunteered for 16 years for Shannon Hospital Auxiliary in San Angelo, Texas. She traveled all over Europe while living in Algeria for 4 years and 2 months and loved every minute of it. After retirement they then went to every state in the United States. She loved family get togethers with all of her grandkids and great grandkids and always looked forward to the next visit. She will be remembered for her love of the color blue, including many blue Santa’s every Christmas, and yellow flowers.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Jerry Sturman of Stephenville, Texas; daughters, Cindy Bragg and husband, Larry, of Stephenville, Texas, and Becky Cox-Riojas and husband, Larry, of Del Rio, Texas; five grandchildren, Amy Goodwin, Kelly Kennedy, Ashley Gladden, Alana Chowaniec, and Jolene Curtis; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and stepmother, Bessie Mae Bilbo Tallant, and a brother, Nilon Tallant.
