Barbara (Willett) Whiting

Services for Barbara Willett Whiting, 85, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Lacy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor KJ Kim officiating.

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Lacy Funeral Home.

Barbara was born in Hope, Arkansas on June 17, 1937, to Joe and Mary Rosalee (Rogers) Willett. She married the love of her life, John Whiting – who she lovingly called “Skip”, on August 14, 1959, in Marshall, Texas. She and John were residents of Stephenville since January of 1964. They enjoyed a happy, blessed marriage for almost 63 years.

Barbara earned both her bachelor’s and master’s Degrees from East Texas State University prior to a lengthy career in the Texas Extension Service. She served as the Erath County Extension Agent for Home Economics in Erath County for 17 years and enjoyed meeting regularly with different Home Extension clubs around the county.

Barbara was a member of the First Christian Church and Erath chapter of Texas Retired Teachers Association. She loved studying God’s word and spending time with her family. Gardening was her favorite hobby, and she loved the outdoors and nature.

Barbara is survived by her husband, John Whiting, her daughter, Shannon Ivey-McCarley, and son-in-law Kyle McCarley, of Stephenville, TX, her son, Kent Whiting of Irving, TX, her granddaughter, Ashtin Kimple and her husband, Payne Kimple, of Stephenville, TX, her granddaughter, Savannah Ivey, of Stephenville, TX, her brother, Vince Willett, of Hope, AR, her brother Jack Willett and sister-in-law, Cecilia Willett, of Stephenville, TX, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Stephenville, TX in lieu of flowers.
