Betty Joyce Shelby Whitaker

Betty Joyce Shelby Whitaker, 89, a retired high school counselor, died on Thursday, January 23, 2025. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held at 1:30-pm-3:00 pm., Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the North Davis Church of Christ, 1601 N. Davis Dr., Arlington, Texas, 76012, 817-277-347. Arrangements are by Lacy Funeral Home.

Betty was born in Huckabay, Texas, on October 17, 1935, to Roy Milton Shelby and Velma Ruth (Guthrie) Shelby. She married Marlin D. Whitaker on July 27, 1963, in Grand Prairie, Texas.

She was a long-time member of the North Davis Church of Christ in Arlington, Texas, and a member of the Arlington Retired Teacher Association. Betty was an avid Bridge and Canasta player. She loved to travel the world.

Survivors include her husband, Marlin; daughter, Shelby Whitaker Manzoni and husband, Peter, of Hurst, Texas; and grandson, Shane Andrew Norman Manzoni of Stephenville, Texas.
