A Celebration of the Life of Bob has been scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in De Leon, Texas, along with services at that time for his daughter, Patricia "Patty" Niblett, who died February 5, 2021.
Bobby Jean Koonce, 83, of Stephenville went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 29th, 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife Nina on the same day 3 years prior. He was laid to rest on December 30, 2020, at Desdemona Cemetery.
He was born in Gorman, Texas, on September 3, 1937, and grew up in Desdemona. He met and married Nina Sue Frasier of Gorman on March 17, 1956. They were blessed to have spent 61 years together.
Bob was drafted into the United States Army and proudly and honorably served in the HQ Tp 2nd Recon Squadron 8th Calvary in Field Communications at Ft Lewis, Washington. It was there that his first child Carla was born. He was a patriot and loved his country very much. He taught his girls to be grateful to live where we are a free people.
They moved to Ft. Worth and then Abilene where his second daughter Patty was born.
The next several years the family resided in Clyde, where they were happy and had many friends. Bob served as deacon at the First Baptist Church and was involved in community activities.
Bob was a sales representative for French’s Mustard and Brach’s Candy. He and Nina spent the rest of their years in Stephenville where they owned Stephenville Sports World before retiring. They were members of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a 50 year Mason where he was involved in serving the cities where he lived.
Among the greatest attributes of Bob were his love for his God, Family, and Country. He will be missed by his family and many friends. Watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports brought him so much joy. He was always their biggest fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Coy and Addie Lorene Koonce of Desdemona, and his wife, Nina.
Bob leaves behind his daughters, Carla Koonce of Arlington, and Patty Niblett and husband, Richard, of Comanche; grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Clay Golden, Leslie DeLeTorre and husband, Johnny, Cass Griffin and wife, Sabrina, all of De Leon; and great-grandchildren, Kylea, Brayden, McKenzie, Rylynn and Kash.
