Captain Warwick Obituary

Stephenville - Services for Captain Roger Warwick, 84, US Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps, retiree, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Lacy Funeral Home with Rev. Weldon Branham officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. -2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Lacy Funeral Home.

Roger was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on May 10, 1936 to Howard and Irene (Dunn) Warwick. He married Sherry Sechrist on April 27, 1956, in Fort Worth, Texas.

Roger graduated from LaMarque High School in LaMarque, Texas in 1954. He attended Arlington State College from 1954-56. He received his Bachelor of Science in Pre-Law from the University of Houston in 1959. He received his LL.B. in Law from Southern Methodist University in 1962 and his LL.M. in International Law from George Washington University in 1969.

Roger completed Officer Candidate School in Rhode Island in 1962. After completion of OCS, Roger enjoyed assignments as a lawyer for the JAG Corps around the country and the world including: US Naval Base Treasure Island, San Francisco, CA; US Naval Training Command, Kenitra, Morocco; US Naval Submarine Base, New London, CT; the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.; Naval Air Station, Pensacola, FL; Commander in Chief US Naval Forces Europe, London, England; and Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, TX. He retired from the US Navy in 1989 after proudly serving his country for 27 years. Roger was a Catholic. He was a member of both the American Bar Association and the Texas Bar Association.

Roger was a very talented man and avid reader of history, politics, and religion. He enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies through the years including oil painting, gardening, car mechanics, restoring furniture, building golf clubs,  home repairs, landscaping, and home improvement projects to name just a few. He always had a DIY project in the works. A perfectionist by nature, he took his time to get projects completed to his satisfaction.

Roger was a loving and caring husband and father. He took great joy in his grandchildren and great grandchildren and delighted in time spent with his family. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones.

Roger is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sherry Warwick; 3 children, Cheryl Warwick, of Stephenville, TX, Howard Roger “Trey” Warwick, III, and wife Lilian, of Stephenville, TX, and Amy Crist, and husband, Bill, of Snyder, TX; 4 grandchildren, John Warwick, of Maine, Kyle Warwick of Fort Worth, TX, Georgiana Crist, of Lubbock, TX, and Gillian Crist, of Snyder, TX; 2 great grandchildren, Chloe Warwick, of Fort Worth, TX, and Kinsley Warwick, of Fort Worth, TX; 2 siblings, Pattie Hill, of Austin, TX, and Jim Warwick, and wife, Joyce, of Houston, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
