Carla Peterman Obituary

   Carla Jean Bennett Peterman passed into the Heavenly Kingdom of God, July 9, 2021 surrounded by her family. Born in Dallas, Texas September 30,1939, she was adopted by Mable Claire and Homer Jackson Bennett.  Carla was raised in Coolidge, Texas where her parents owned a grain mill and a hotel. She graduated from Coolidge High School in 1957 and went on to SMU, where she obtained her degree in elementary education. Carla was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and enjoyed being involved in alumni activities after graduation.

She married Jerry Whitaker Peterman where she fell in love with the outdoors and traveling the world. She and Jerry went on many safaris together and she also enjoyed several girls trips to various countries. She was known for her fabulous cooking, which will be greatly missed. Carla was a member of the Junior Charity League and Dallas Safari Club, where she volunteered many years for both.  She worked at UPUMC day school and ran the after school program. She enjoyed gardening, photography and fishing, but most of all being at the ranch. She and Jerry retired to their ranch in Iredell, Texas in 2006. Carla was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, father and mother Homer and Mable Bennett. She is survived by daughter Claire Henriksen, son Whit Peterman, grandson Jake Henriksen, and granddaughter Laura Henriksen.

Memorial service will be held at University Park United Methodist Church, Dallas. July 16, 2021 at 11:00a.m.
