Carolyn Louise Edgmon, age 75, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024, and is now reunited with her parents, Edgar and Sue, in heaven.
Known affectionately as the “Collie Lady,” Carolyn will be deeply missed by her husband David Hutchison, and her cousins Mike and Anita Edgmon, as well as Dianna and Hal Ray, and their children.
Carolyn was known for her independent spirit and compassionate nature. Her life's work was dedicated to providing a safe haven for dogs in need of forever homes. One of her proudest achievements was founding DFW Collie Rescue, through which she successfully placed over 300 dogs with loving families. She also organized an annual Collie Reunion, creating a supportive community for all those she served.
In addition to her work with animals, Carolyn was a passionate teacher and remained active in the Palo Pinto County Retired Teachers Association and Texas Retired Teacher Association after her retirement.
A proud Texan, Carolyn will be remembered for her infectious laugh, positive outlook on life, and the delicious homemade ice cream she served at family gatherings hosted at her childhood home.
Though the family grieves her loss, they are comforted by the thought of many wagging tails eagerly awaiting Carolyn across the Rainbow Bridge.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Collie Club of America Rescue Foundation at www.collierescuefoundation.net.
