Charlene Ladell Miller entered the loving arms of Jesus on December 8, 2023.
Charlene generously loved and was the guiding light and solid rock for her family including her five children, Dusty Miller and wife Nancy, Sid Miller and wife Debra, Jodean Earney and husband Chuck, Jill Hogg and husband Dwayne, and Mark Miller and wife Becky.
She cherished the time with her grandchildren Rusty Miller and wife Rachel, Truett Miller and wife Natasha, Joseph Miller and wife Kelly, Roy Vernon, Kallie Bearden and husband Quinton, Tate Miller and wife Emily, Emily Oliver and husband Johnathan and Nolan Miller and wife Timber along with her 18 great grandchildren.
She is survived by cousins Selah Mason, Lennetta Box and Lady Smith.
She was preceded in death by Dean Miller, her husband of 48 years, her parents Tate and Minnie Counts and her sister Peggy Jean Scott.
Charlene was born in DeLeon, Texas on June 29, 1926, and married Dean Truett Miller on September 12, 1947. She moved to Stephenville in 1996 where she was a member of First Baptist Church. She graduated from DeLeon High School and John Tarleton Agricultural College now Tarleton State University and North Texas State Teacher’s College now University of North Texas with a degree in Education. Charlene taught at Desdemona ISD in her early years and retired from teaching in DeLeon where she taught for 20 years. She touched the lives of many students over the years.
Charlene was an amazing woman, mother, grandmother, friend and shining light in the lives of all who knew her. She loved her church and enjoyed traveling with the Stephenville Travel Club after retirement, loved to sew and paint, play bridge and volunteer with the local 4-H Club. She was a member of Chapter JW P.E.O. and the DeLeon Shakespeare Club. Charlene leaves an amazing legacy and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, December 15 at 1pm at Lacy Funeral Home with the service following at 2pm. Graveside services will be at the DeLeon cemetery following the service.
