David Geurin Obituary

Services for David Wayne Geurin, 68, retired owner of RLG Pumping Company, will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at the Lacy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Werth Mayes officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 9, 2020, at Georgetown Cemetery, Pottsboro, Texas, with Rev. Don Hogg officiating.

David was born in Gainesville, Texas, on April 11, 1951, to Archie (Bud) Monroe and Wilma (Morgan) Geurin. He married Mary Lynn Massingill on November 7, 1997, in Monahans, Texas.

David was most known for his strong work ethic and devotion to those he loved. He graduated from Kermit High School and put himself through welding school. He challenged himself to provide well for his family working in the oilfields of West Texas, the Alaskan Pipeline, opening his own gun store, a cattle company, and eventually retired as the owner of RLG Pumping Company.

David continuously studied up on politics and finance often giving copies of Dave Ramsey’s financial books to those he loved. He was very involved in his daughter’s sporting events following them to countless softball games and golf tournaments as they grew up. He established a loving and devoted relationship with his son entrusting him with his company when he retired.

After “retiring” with his wife Mary Lynn Geurin to a home outside of Stephenville, his industrious nature continued by mending fences, tanks, building worm farms, collecting guns, building relationships with his new neighbors and even buying a boat so they could fish in the peaceful lakes nearby. He would tour the grandkids around on the mule introducing them to his animals and explaining his latest projects. He attended the Cowboy Church of Erath County, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lynn Geurin of Stephenville, Texas; children, Rebekah McBride and husband, Steve, of Sherman, Texas, Rita Harris and husband, Richie, of Bells, Texas, and Jason Yeager and wife, Shonna; grandchildren, Heather Corzine, Bridgett House, Ashley Shrum, Austin May, Hogan Harris, and Carter Harris, Nevaeh, McKynlee, and Gavin McBride, Chris Miller, Jason Trevor Miller, and Tristan Bryant; great-grandchild, Brailea Corzine; his sister-in law, Carol Anne Green; and his brothers-in-law, Don and Dan Massingill. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Kathie Chambers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cowboy Church of Erath County, Texas, PO Box 371, Stephenville, TX 76401, or the charity of your choice.
