Dorothy Estelle McFarland

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Estelle Clayton McFarland, who passed away on March 17th, 2023, at the age of 84. She was born on August 22nd, 1938, to Johnnie Estes Clayton and Gwendolyn Marie Oxford in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Dorothy married Jon Morris McFarland on December 21st, 1957. They were blessed with three sons: Larry Wayne McFarland, Gary Clayton McFarland, and Glenn Morris McFarland. Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother who took great pride in her family. Her grandchildren, Ian Hamilton McFarland, Travis Clayton McFarland, and Jordan Lynne McFarland, were a source of joy and pride for her.

Dorothy was a woman of faith and a devoted member of the Methodist church. She lived in The Woodlands, TX for 31 years and was a proud member of several community organizations. She was known for her warm and friendly personality and her generosity towards others.

Dorothy was also a proud owner of a ranch passed down to her by her parents near Stephenville, TX. She loved spending time there with her family, surrounded by the beauty of nature.

Sadly, Jon McFarland passed away on July 22nd, 2022, preceding Dorothy in death. They were married for over 64 years, and their love for each other was a shining example for all who knew them.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved older sister Dona Harris. She is survived by Dona’s daughters Pamela Cundiff and Paula Turcotte.

She also leaves behind her beloved nephew Perry McFarland.

Dorothy will be deeply missed by her sons, grandchildren, and all who knew her. She will be remembered for her kindness, her faith, and her love for her family. A funeral service to honor her life will be held April 2nd, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Desdemona Cemetery where she will be interred beside her beloved Jon.
