Dorothy "Dottie" Corbin Obituary

Dorothy Wofford Corbin, known to most as Dottie, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on March 12, 2023, at the age of 86. Her service will be Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Lacy Funeral Home in Stephenville, Texas, at 11:00 A.M., with Dr. Ken May officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday prior to the service at Lacy Funeral Home from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. The burial will be at West End Cemetery in Stephenville, Texas.

Dottie was born in Ft. Worth, Texas, on December 29, 1936, to James and Eugenia Wofford. Dottie grew up in Cleburne, Texas where she met Bill Corbin while in high school. She was the valedictorian of her graduating class in 1955. Bill and Dottie dated throughout high school and her time at TCU where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and graduated with honors. Dad always said mother graduated with honors and he graduated from Texas A&M, barely.

Bill and Dottie married on June 3, 1958, and had a wonderful loving marriage of nearly 65 years. Son Glenn Corbin was born in 1960, followed by Greg Corbin in 1963. Bill and Dottie relocated to Richardson, Texas where Dottie was a stay-at-home mom until Greg reached elementary school. She then began a new career in real estate. During this time she worked for several real estate companies in Plano, Texas, helping sell many homes in the up and coming suburb.

In 1977, Bill decided to transfer to Stephenville, Texas with Fibergrate, Corp. Dottie began selling real estate in Stephenville and soon decided to open her own office, Dottie Corbin Realtors. During this time, she was instrumental in creating the local Board of Realtors. She went on to do real estate appraisal work and was an active member of the appraisal review board. She had the opportunity to return to real estate, managing a Coldwell Banker franchise which she eventually bought along with several of the agents. The office was very successful and after a number of years, Dottie had an opportunity to sell the company to enjoy retirement with her family, weekend trips to the lake and traveling with brother-in-law and sister-in-law Pat and Jerry Corbin to Branson.

She was member of the First Baptist Church of Stephenville and active in the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and served as chapter president. She was also a volunteer at the local hospital. In her spare time she loved to knit.

She is survived by husband, Bill Corbin, sons, Glenn Corbin and wife Laura Corbin, Greg Corbin and husband Paul Johnson, nephew Marc and niece Tanya, numerous cousins, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
