Fred Wilmont Schroeder Sr., 76, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Fred will be laid to rest at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery held at a later date. Arrangements are by Lacy Funeral Home.
Fred was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on January 21, 1948, to his parents Roy Schroeder and Marjorie (Guess) Schroeder. Fred attended Ann Arbor (Pioneer) Highschool before he enlisted; he was a Vietnam Veteran. He entered the US Army in December of 1967, and he proudly served his country until March of 1971.
Fred was a construction contractor. He enjoyed music of any genre, and he loved to dance, especially ballroom dancing. Fred taught country/western dance, as well as ballroom dancing for many years, which he absolutely loved.
Survivors include his children; daughter, Elizabeth Starnes and husband Brent of Stephenville, Texas, son, Fred Schroeder Jr. of Indiana; Stepchildren, Tia Charles of Indiana, Bobbi Hagaman of Michigan, and William Conley of Indiana; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Marjorie Schroeder; Brother, James Schroeder; Stepdaughter, Raquel Charles; Half-brothers, Donald and Robert Schroeder; Half-sister, Phyllis Berg; and stepsister, Caroline Jedele.
