Freyda Marlene (Whiting) Sherrill

Services for Freyda Marlene Sherrill, 99, retired Registered Nurse, will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at the Lacy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dick Carroll officiating. Interment will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 6, 2021, at Brookside Memorial Park in Houston, Texas. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Lacy Funeral Home.

Freyda was born in Lanesboro, Iowa and a graduate of Lanesboro High School. She was a graduate of the RN program of Iowa Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. She served in the U.S. Air Force at Davis Monthan Field, Tucson, Arizona. There, she met and married her late husband, Dr. William M. Sherrill, who was the Flight Surgeon of a B-29 unit.

After serving in the military, they moved to Houston, where he practiced medicine for 36 years, until his death in 1994. Freyda moved to Stephenville in 1999.

Freyda was preceded in death by her twin brother, Dellwyn. She is survived by three sons, Wm. M. Sherrill, M.D. and wife Gayle, Lawrence Sherrill and wife Elizabeth, of Fort Worth, Robert Sherrill and wife Karen, of Houston; one brother, John Whiting, of Stephenville; five grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
