A Graveside Service for Grover Dean Orr, 101, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at West End Cemetery with Rev. Mike Hannah, and Rev. Mark Castleberry officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 10:45 A.M. Wednesday, prior to the service, at Lacy Funeral Home.
Grover was born in Decatur, Texas on November 25, 1919, to Roscoe and Stella (Smith) Orr. He married Lillie Melva (Bagwell) Orr on October 7, 1937, in Tuscola, Texas. They were married 73 years. She preceded him in death on November 21, 2010.
He was a member of Greens Creek United Methodist Church. He was a proud, lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge. Grover was also a Navy veteran. He was one of the last of the greatest generation. Our freedoms today are due to the sacrifices of those like Grover.
Grover is survived by his children Don Orr and wife Zelda of Dublin, Texas, and Kay Brooks and husband Mike of Paint Rock, Texas; 3 grandchildren, Susan Ramsdell, Kim Leatherwood, and Melony Bell; 8 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marjorie Oakes.
