Helen “Hownie” Gaines
Graveside Services for Helen “Hownie” Gaines, 87, a devoted dry-cleaning clerk, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Oak Dale Cemetery with Vance Wade officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Lacy Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Lacy Funeral Home.
Helen was born in Stephenville, Texas, on August 20, 1938, to Elmer Clyde and Savannah (Brooks) Hill. She married the love of her life, Buddy Gaines, on February 20, 1958, in Weatherford, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2012.
Helen was a proud member of the Baptist Church. She loved music, dancing, and cherished every moment spent with her family—especially her many grandchildren. Her warmth, humor, and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
She is survived by her children: Floyd Gaines and wife Randie, of Millsap, Texas; Pamela “Stormy” Tichinel and husband, Bill, of Granbury, Texas; and her son-in-law, David Sission, of Clairette, Texas. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Surviving siblings include: Maxine Hill; Leonard Hill and wife, Maryann ,Veda Wren,Tommy Hill and wife Susan, Frosty (Alta) Linderman and husband John, “Sweetpea” (Clydia) Payne and husband Bubba and Randy Hill.
She was preceded in death by her beloved children, Debra Sission and Danny Gaines; brothers, Elmer Hill, Roy Hill, and William Hill and sister, Yvonne Little.
