Stephenville - Services for James “Dude” Leonard Cox, 77, will be held at 6:00 P.M., Friday January 23, 2026, at the Cowboy Church of Erath County with Rev. Werth Mayes officiating.
James Leonard Cox was born in Borger, Texas, on June 7,1948, to Byron William Cox and Mary Francis (Crisp) Cox. He married Jackie Pack on September 29, 1989, in Stephenville, Texas. From this point on he would forever be called Dude.
James was a member of the Cowboy Church of Erath County. He loved watching Western shows on TV and spending time with his friends and family. He loved tinkering with vehicles and fixing things.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Cox of Stephenville, Texas; children, Thomas Cox and wife, Amanda, of Stephenville, Texas, Christina Lewis and husband, Fred, of Palestine, Texas, Crystal Martinez and husband, Jeff, of La Pine, Oregon, Preston Hart of Weatherford, Texas, Kathryn Chambers and husband, Quenton, of Stephenville, Texas, and Korissa Chambers and husband, Chet, of Stephenville, Texas; and his brothers, Byron Cox, Jr., and wife, Elaine, of Tyler, Texas, Kyle Cox of Stephenville, Texas, and Dale Cox and his wife, Connie, of Hico, Texas. 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends.
