James Thomas "Tommy" Hilliard

James Thomas “Tommy” Hilliard was born on September 26, 1953, and passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024, in Waco, Texas, just one day after turning 71 years old. Services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 11 a.m. at True Vine Baptist Church in Bremond, Texas, with the Rev. Joe Skaggs officiating. Interment will follow at the Erath Gardens of Memory in Stephenville, Texas. Arrangements are by Lacy Funeral Home.

Tommy attended Stephenville ISD. Through the years Tommy could be found volunteering to preach at various small churches in the Erath county area. He hosted an annual back to school barbecue for the children in his community of Bremond. Tommy was a hard worker and often would haul hay or work odd jobs to help ends meet. He was a Christian man and lived a quiet and peaceful life.

Tommy is survived by his partner and best friend, Linda Steele of Bremond, Texas; and her extended family; son, James Leonard (Antoinette) Hilliard of Stephenville, Texas; grandchildren Angelina, Kaylan, and Anthony; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Otis and Verna Lee (Barnes) Hilliard, and his brother, Charles R. Hilliard.

Tommy will be missed by all who were blessed to know him and call him their friend.
