Obituary

Our beloved Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend flew into the arms of Jesus on June 3, 2023, surrounded by those he loved. From the moment you met Jeffrey, you knew you were being blessed and that a special friendship was being made. Jeffrey showed the kind of love that was unconditional, an example of a true believer of the Lord with a heart to serve others. Jeffrey was an angel among us and a special friend to so many. However, we should not only grieve his passing but also be filled with joy. As it is written in Philippians 1:21, “…To live is Christ, and to die is gain” As a believer, Jeffrey has moved on to a better place and we as Christians have the faith to know that one day, we will be reunited with him.

Jeffrey Scott Cooley was born on August 23, 1977, in Uvalde, Texas. He was adopted and raised as one of their own by Bill and Billiejo Cooley of Brownwood and he was the youngest of five siblings. Jeffrey graduated from Brownwood HS in 1998 and was a lifelong fan of the Brownwood Lions. He was also a diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys and loved going to all the Stephenville Yellowjacket football games. Jeffrey was a long-term loyal employee at Woods Furniture and quickly became part of their family. After moving to Stephenville, Jeffrey became a member of the First Baptist Church of Stephenville, where he assisted teaching with the Friendship class and sign language. Jeffrey also was an avid volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Jeffrey loved doing the Lord’s work by helping and serving others and was known for his big smile, laugh, kindness, love, and generosity.

Jeffrey is survived by his siblings, Lena and James Nunley of Springtown, Michael and Heather Cooley of Keller, Tena and Spencer Kirk of Stephenville, and Nick and Jennifer Cooley of Stephenville. He is also survived by 7 nephews and 6 nieces: Nicholas Cooley, Jordan Cooley, Zack Cooley, Dustin Edmiston, Logan Kirk, Luke Kirk, Kameron Cooley, Ellen Cooley, Karleigh Cooley, Elizabeth Cooley, Emily Cooley, Jane Nunley and Steveanna (Nunley)Latimer. Also, a great nephew, Caden Cooley, a great niece, Charlie Jo Cooley, a biological half-sister Leslie Kolton of San Angelo, and Megan Starr of Lott, a very special little sister to our family.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Billiejo Cooley.

The family would like to acknowledge Debra Ciccarelli, Jeffrey’s most precious friend and teacher of the Friendship class. She is a true gift from God with a heart for special needs and loved Jeffrey unconditionally.
