Obituary
Morgan Mill - Joanne Rose Shank Ball, age 91, passed away on May 24, 2023. Joanne was born on November 9, 1931 in Wooster, Ohio to Wilbur Allen Shank and Audrey Alice (Gerber) Shank.
She graduated from Wooster High School in 1949, attended Ohio State University where she was the 1950 Sweetheart of the Sigma Pi Fraternity, and received her R.N. from Parkland Hospital’s nursing school in Dallas in 1955. Joanne loved horses, dogs, friends, and family. She married Southern Methodist University law student Chester George Ball, Jr. on June 8, 1954 in Dallas. Together they had two children, Scott and Catherine, and a lifelong menagerie of animals.
Joanne is survived by her son Scott Graham Ball and wife Lisa of Dallas, daughter Catherine Ball Edwards and husband Treven of Bellingham, Washington, and grandchildren Madeleine Ball of Austin and Elizabeth Edwards of Bellingham. She is preceded in death by parents Wilber and Audrey Shank, brother Dean Shank, sister Eileen Loehr, and Chester Ball, her husband of 65 years.
A memorial service will be held at the Morgan Mill Methodist Church on June 3, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow. Donations in lieu of flowers on behalf of Joanne to the Morgan Mill Methodist Church or SPCA of Texas are welcomed by the family.
