Linda Blue Sledge

Linda Blue Sledge, Ms. Claus and baker extraordinaire, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved

ones on July 14, 2023. Linda was born to her precious parents, Pug and Adare Blue, who were the best

of all humanity, and who preceded her in death. She has a sister, who preceded her in death, Dorothy

Jean Blue, and a brother Wayne Blue, and his wife, Debbie. She has two kids, who probably made all the

beautiful silver hairs on her head, Robert Sledge and Cassie Petty. Robert Sledge preceded her in death,

and took a room of her heart with him on his journey to heaven. She is survived by her daughter, Cassie,

brother Wayne and his wife Debbie, nieces, Brandy Blue and Toni Price, their spouses, and many other

cherished family and friends.

She lived life as an independent firecracker who loved beyond measure. She spent 37 years loving and

pushing students with special needs to achieve and live life to the fullest. She considered them her own.

She also raised two strong willed and stubborn children, and taught them how to give others that love

and inspiration. Linda was a member of many treasured group of friends, but especially the Central

Elementary group of angel friends that were together for a lifetime, and the Gadabout Grannies, who

traveled the country together on many occasions.

She was the Ms. Claus for everyone, decorating with the most wonderful Christmas treasures hand

made by her, her mother, and her great grandmother. Each year for more than 20 years, on the first

Monday following Thanksgiving, she had the Christmas Bash for the Central Elementary Annex family

who loved each other so much. One of her beloved Central Elementary angels once said, “it’s not

Christmas without going to Momma Linda’s for our Christmas party”. And Lord how every inch and room

of her house was dolled up with sparkles and treasures of Christmas everywhere! EVERWHERE! Even the

bathroom with musical decorations to entertain! And if you were fortunate enough to use her

bathroom, Frosty was waiting for you on her toilet, for a giggle, or maybe to be mischievous in fun.

She spoiled everyone with extravagant cakes and cookies. She made everyone the yummiest hand

created cakes and cookies from scratch. You give her a picture, and she painted it with icing, rice crispy

treat creations, and candies to create 3D art pieces that melted in our mouth and made us all fat and

happy! Her recipes and treasure will live on through us.

Momma never went anywhere without all her sparkling, and matching jewelry treasures. Her clothes

and jewelry just had to be coordinated, and her hair and makeup pristine. She looked like a jewel and

beamed with pride everywhere she went.

But her greatest treasure was her grandson, Daniel Petty. She gave him her artistic talents, her work

ethic, and her drive. She gave him all of her heart and soul. She walked with him as a munchkin and

exposed him to every experience she could bless him with. And she taught him how, and encouraged his

mischievous fun and pranks. He was her light which kept her going strong after losing her son in 1992.

Truth be told, he was her greatest love.

Her spiritual gift to others was holding the hand with others as they walked their last journey. She did it

with honor and pure love. So, we do that for her. When she entered the gaits of heaven at 1:46 this

morning, I promise she was tackled and hugged by Lindsey Mae Lozano, Caleb Elston, and Collin Harris,

who are strong and whole, and her son, parents, and 17 aunts and uncles. Oh, what a feast and party

took place last night as she reunited with her family and Jesus in Heaven!

In lieu of flowers, consider honoring her life and love with a donation to a memorial fund at the First

Financial Bank, to be used to blessed her light and grandson, Daniel Petty, for his college tuition.

Live like Linda, each day to fullest and love those who may be lost or unlovable at time! Her legacy lives

on through each of us.
