Lyle Lacy Obituary

Services for Lyle Eugene Lacy, 89, previous owner of Lacy Funeral Home, are scheduled at Lacy Funeral Home for Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Werth Mayes officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 6:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. Interment will be following the funeral service at West End Cemetery.

Lyle was born in Gibbon, Oklahoma on June 11, 1933, to Argle William and Trecie Alverta (Webb) Lacy.  He married Glenda Sue Wallis on May 31, 1958, in Borger, Texas.

Lyle was a United States Army Veteran and served in the Korean Conflict. Upon returning from service, he attended mortuary school and became a licensed funeral director and embalmer.

Lyle and Glenda moved to Stephenville in 1971 from Amarillo and purchased the Trewitt-Reed Funeral Home where he served the community up until his retirement in 2002.

Lyle was a lifetime member of the VFW, past Commander of The American Legion Post 240, past President of the Stephenville Optimist Club, and past President of the Texas Funeral Director’s Association.  He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church of Stephenville for over 50 years until he and Glenda moved back to Amarillo and joined First Baptist Church of Amarillo.

Known to his grandkids as Pepaw, Lyle enjoyed traveling with Glenda to watch them in all of their activities.  He and Glenda also enjoyed RV trips all over the country, many times taking the grandkids on their adventures.  He had a lifelong love of golf and made many memories playing different courses with friends and family.

Lyle is survived by his wife of 64 years, Glenda Lacy; daughters Cami Simmons and husband Greg of Odessa, Texas, Leska Neeb and husband Andy of Amarillo, Texas; grandsons, Ryan Simmons and wife Tori, Collin Simmons and wife Taylor, and Mason Simmons; granddaughters, Lauren Simmons, Abby Neeb, Cora Neeb and Ella Neeb.
