Margaret Mollick Obituary

Margaret Anne Burns,

April 27, 1936-January 4, 2026

Margaret Anne Burns was born April 27, 1936, in Liberal, Kansas to Joseph Lane Burns and

Leta Gertrude Bowles Burns. She was the fourth of seven children.

When Margaret was six, the family moved to Texas, where Margaret graduated as the

valedictorian of Godley High School in 1954. She then worked as a commercial artist for Bell

Telephone in Dallas, and in 1960, married John Mollick. This was the prelude to what she often

said was her most important and enjoyable job, as a mother. John’s work as an engineer for LTV

took the family to Bloomfield Hills, Michigan in 1964, and then back to Arlington, Texas in

1977, where Margaret raised their three boys and also found time for community causes. In

addition to working as a city clerk and later running for mayor of Dalworthington Gardens, she

volunteered for the US census and numerous local, state, and federal elections. Throughout her

life, she imparted to her children a passion for the arts. She became an accomplished painter, was

a loyal patron of Fort Worth’s museums and Bass Performance Hall and regularly volunteered at

the Main Street Art Festival. After the passing of her husband in 2013, Margaret moved to

Trinity Terrace in downtown Fort Worth, where she continued painting, volunteering, and

contributing to local art shows. She loved reading history, encouraged those around her to

embrace learning at all ages, and even had campaign-style buttons made with the slogan, “Ask a

bunch of questions!”

She is survived by her brother Jim Burns, son John S. Mollick and his wife

Susie Woodhams; son Joseph Mollick; son George Mollick and his wife Kathleen Mollick;

grandsons John A. Mollick and Louis Mollick; and numerous loving nieces and nephews
