Marsha deGraffenried Obituary

Granbury- Marsha Ann deGraffenried, 74, passed away on June 14, 2025.  A celebration of her life will take place in the future.

Marsha was born in Colorado City, Texas on February 15, 1951.  She married Tommy deGraffenried on March 1, 1980 in Houston, Texas.  They were married for 36 years until he passed away in early 2017.

Marsha was a dedicated wife and mother who tirelessly served her family and community.  She was the wonderful leader of Girl Scout Troop 5667 for several years.  She was also an amazing volunteer at Terrace Elementary, Spring Oaks Middle School, and Spring Woods High School.  She was a longtime member of Fair Haven United Methodist Church in Houston until she moved to Granbury where she was also actively involved with a church family for several years.

Marsha was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was a go-getter and a friend and second mom to many.  She was the most organized and determined person you’d ever meet.  Marsha loved Jesus with her whole heart and was an incredible prayer warrior for so many.

Marsha was diagnosed with Primary Lateral Sclerosis, a rare neuromuscular disease, in 1999.  At the time, the doctor told her that she would eventually not be able to walk, but she was still mostly walking, with the aid of her trusty walker and caregivers, until the end.  When you would ask Marsha how she was doing, two of her prized responses were, “I’m better than I should be!” and “I’m blessed and highly favored!”, no matter what.  She was a remarkable example of determination and a steadfast faith in God.  She is now rejoicing in Heaven with Tommy and free of the limitations of her earthly body.

Survivors include daughters, Michelle DeYoung and husband, Randy, of Granbury, Texas and Dixie Stalnaker and husband, Court, of Allen, Texas; brother, Dennis Lee and wife, Carolyne, of San Angelo, Texas; grandchildren, Devon DeYoung and wife, Malley, Taylor Hickey and husband, Nathan, Lillian Stalnaker, and Samuel Stalnaker; and great-grandchildren, Riley DeYoung and Harper Hickey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Wanda Edmiston; stepfather, Sonny Edmiston; sister, Linda Clements; and brothers, Bobby and Randy Beavers.

Memorials may be made to Gideons International at gideons.org or P.O. Box 76 Stephenville, Texas 76401.
