Services for Nancy Jane Scouten will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Lacy Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Ken May officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lacy Funeral Home. Nancy entered eternal rest on Monday, September 23, 2024, at the age of 77. Arrangements are by Lacy Funeral Home.
Nancy was born in Bath, New York, on May 9, 1947, to Charles Coombs and Betty Jane (Adams) Coombs. She married William Scouten, Sr. on July 16, 1965, in Corning, New York.
Nancy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stephenville, Texas. She truly loved serving and spending time with her family and serving the needs of others as a volunteer at The Grace Place. Nancy loved quilting and was a member of the Town ‘n Country Quilt Guild of Stephenville. She was a talented artist and was interested in folk painting, making clay dolls, and weaving baskets and chairs. Nancy had a passion for music and could remember anything set to a tune. She also helped establish a church in Hyrum, Utah, and served as its first pianist.
Survivors include her husband, William Scouten, Sr. of Stephenville, Texas; children, Lisa Scouten of Arizona, Dr. Linda Costin and husband, Dr. Scott Costin of Bellefontaine, Ohio, William Scouten, Jr. of Stephenville, Texas, Michael Scouten and wife, Shona of McKinney, Texas, and Thomas Scouten and wife, Shannon of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Jenna, Jack, Emma, Ella, Andrew, Matthew, Nicole, Kellie, Abby, Thai, and McKinley; great-grandchildren, Cannon and Whitten; siblings, Ruth Ann Kanost and husband, John of Dayton, Ohio, Ron Coombs of Dover, Ohio, Steve Coombs and wife, Diane of Ashville, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
Preceded in death by her son, David Scouten.
