Nita Joy (Carr) Holmes

A graveside service for Nita Joy Holmes, 80, retired nurse, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Oak Dale Cemetery with Rev. Weldon Branham officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. Friday, September 2, 2022, at Lacy Funeral Home.

Nita was born in Stephenville on August 29, 1942, to Charlie and Charline (Gibson) Carr. She married Elmer Holmes on April 24, 1978, in Weatherford, Texas.

Nita was a Christian. She loved working crossword puzzles, reading, sewing, and spending time with her family.

Nita is survived by her husband of 44 years, Elmer Holmes; children, Joe Dale Kyle and his wife Melinda of Corsicana, Texas, Neil Kyle of Granbury, Texas, Carmin Messman and her fiancé Freddie Ables of Stephenville, Texas, and Miranda Holmes of Stephenville, Texas; grandchildren, Emily Prado of Stephenville, Texas, Josh Messman of Granbury, Texas, and Robbie Messman of Stephenville, Texas; 8 great grandchildren; one surviving brother, Tommy Carr of Stephenville, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shannon Kyle; and 2 brothers, Bobby Carr, and Eddie Carr.
