Sharon Craig Obituary

Sharon passed peacefully, surrounded by her family on December 25, 2019. Per Sharon’s request, there will be no services.

Sharon was born in Omaha, Nebraska on July 16, 1945, to Calvin and Lillie Craig.

Sharon worked as a receiving manager for a local, well known department store. She began her employment in Kingfisher, OK and worked for this company for 28 years. While working there she met the founder of that store, Mr. Sam Walton and enjoyed working for the company that he built.

Besides being Ney-Neys and Grandma to her grandchildren, she enjoyed gardening and working in the yard, as well as spoiling her dog, Sophie and her cat, Smarty.

She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered to provide meals to home bound members of our community with Meals On Wheels.

Sharon is survived by her children, Julie Freed, and husband, Rusty of Stephenville, TX, and James Gillis, and wife, Christie of Limon, CO, grandchildren, Jeyton Freed of San Marcos, TX, Carly Freed Mailar, and husband, Sachin of Watauga, TX, Ashlyn Gillis of Woodrow, CO, James Wade Gillis of Limon, CO, and Addi Gillis of OK; great grandson, Zane Powell of Watauga, TX; brother, Fred Green, and wife, Sue of Hillsboro, TN; sister-in-law, Carol Green of Shelbyville, TN; nephews, Lee Peoples and Gary Peoples; and close friends, Sonia Robinson, and Betty Evatt.

Sharon was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Gillis on October 6, 2013.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Senior Care Nursing Home, Solaris Hospice, Stephenville Hospital Auxiliary, and especially, Dr. Jeffery D. Moore.
