Shirley Joy Phelps

Shirley Joy Phelps, 87, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in Hico, Texas. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Pilot Knob in Stephenville, Texas, with the Rev. Cody Jones officiating.

Shirley was born in Stephenville, Texas, on October 3, 1937, to her parents Ted Martin and Margaret (Hillard) Martin. She married Cecil Phelps, and he preceded her in death on November 16, 1987. Shirley was a school custodian, and was a member of the Washington St. Baptist Church. She loved being with her animals, but most importantly loved spending time with her family. 

Survivors include her children, daughter Loretta Murphy and husband Billy of Hico, Texas, and sons Charles and Raymond Phelps of Stephenville, TX; grandchildren, Larry Murphy and wife Carrie of Bluff Dale, TX, and Julie Murphy of Hico, TX; great grandchildren, Jamie Doonan and husband Jonathan of Granbury, TX, Justin and Sean Murphy of Hico, TX, and Casten Murphy of Bluff Dale, TX; great-great grandchildren, Jolee Doonan of Granbury, TX.

Preceded in death by her son, Michael Phelps who passed away in August of 2014, and her husband Cecil Phelps.
