Services for Yvonne Shumaker, 87, retired Registered Nurse, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the Lacy Funeral Home Chapel with Kevin Morton officiating. Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 7457 W Lake Rd, Abilene, TX 79601. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00-10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the Lacy Funeral Home Chapel.
Yvonne was born in Quanah, Texas, on July 18, 1936, to Lewis and Naomi (Callahan) Isaacks. She married Myrl B. Shumaker on July 9, 1963, in Richmond, Texas. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2016.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cross Plains, Texas. She loved country music, western swing, her grandchildren, reading, and her church family where she was always involved. She devoted her life to nursing and caring for others.
Survivors include her son, Michael Shumaker and wife, Jaime, of Stephenville, Texas; grandsons, Dillon Shumaker, Dyson Shumaker, Mark White, Jason White, and Ray Elrod; four great-grandchildren; brother, Lewis Isaacks and wife, Paula, of McKinney, Texas; cousin, Jean Beall; and several nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Myrl B. Shumaker, and grandson, Joshua Shumaker.
