Services for Garland Knipstein, 65, senior lineman for Oncor, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Valley Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ward Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Lacy Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Lacy Funeral Home.

Garland was born in Gatesville, Texas, on May 2, 1951, to Edwin and Dorothy Augusta (Tiemann) Knipstein. He married Debbie Robison on July 2, 1983, in Stephenville, Texas. He was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church where he was the church van driver and the co-teacher for The Friends of Collin Sunday School Class. Garland was a Past Master of the Stephenville Masonic Lodge #267and Harmony Lodge #592, a member of Rock House Lodge #417, former District Deputy for District 67, an Honorary 33rd Degree Scottish Rite, and served as presiding officer of all York Rite bodies. Garland loved to play baseball and holds the record for the 1600 meter at Stephenville High School.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Knipstein of Stephenville; his son, Lance Knipstein of Stephenville; his sister Sharon Lesley and husband, Royce, of De Leon, Texas; sisters-in-law, Donna Barnes and husband, Phil, of Stephenville, and Deanna Rogers of Fort Worth; and nieces and nephews, Alan Lesley, Nathan Lesley, Chad Barnes, Chayla Poston, Chase Barnes, Colby Barnes, Cam Hall, and Cooper Hall; and several great-nieces and nephews.
